Alloy Steel 2340

Alloy steel 2340 is an iron-carbon alloy composed of nickel and carbon. The nickel adds toughness and corrosion resistance. The first digit, 2, defines nickel as the primary element. The second digit, 3, defines the approximate percentage of the primary element (3% nickel), and the last two digits, 40, define the percentage of carbon in hundredths of a percent (0.40% carbon).
