Servo Motor Encoder

An encoder is is any device or method used to translate information from one format to another. In the case of machinery systems, encoders are typically used to convert transducer signals measure position and orientation to a signal that is sent to a processed by a control system. A servo motor encoder is a rotary encoder used to measure rotational location on shafts in motor-driven industrial machines. The type of encoder used is dependent on the motor type, the machine being driven by the motor, and the control inputs and accuracy required to monitor and control the machine.
