Dc To Ac Power Inverters

Power inverters convert direct current to alternating current for the purpose of operating AC-driven devices from a DC power source such as a low voltage battery. In the DC power source, voltage travels continuously from the negative terminal, through the load, to the positive terminal. A power inverter increases the voltage from the DC source, then converts it to an alternating current using oscillator circuits. Because these oscillator circuits deliver a square wave output, a series of filters, inductors, and capacitors is commonly used to smooth the square wave into a smooth sine wave characteristic of AC power.
