Encoders : Linear Encoder
An encoder is is any device or method used to translate information from one format to another. In the case of machinery systems, encoders are typically used to convert transducer signals measure position and orientation to a signal that is sent to a processed by a control system. Linear encoders are used to measure linear position, or translation relative to a reference or previous position.
