Fiber Optic Sensors
A fiber optic sensor is a measurement device that uses transparent fiber to detect and measure physical quantities. Fiber optic sensors can be used to measure pressure, temperature, and other physical attributes as a result of measuring their impact on the light spectrum transported in the fiber. There are many different types of sensors covering a wide range of applications. An advantage of fiber optic sensors is that external power sources are not necessary to supply power to the sensor as with traditional electronic sensors.
