Flowmeters : Clamp-on Flowmeter

A flowmeter is an instrumentation device used to measure and record the flow rate of a gas or fluid. A clamp-on flowmeter is one that can be installed external to the piping system and without the use of sensors embedded in the flow. Clamp-on flowmeters are ultrasonic sensors, using ultrasonic pulses transmitted through the pipe wall and into the fluid to measure the flow rate. Because of the non-invasive nature of these flowmeters, they are popular in the measurement of natural gas, chemical, or waste flows.
